Happy New Year to all of you with best wishes for a 2012 full of Reiki energy!
I'm writing to update you on this year's VRA priorities, identified at the October Annual Meeting. [February 3, 2012]
- Re-establish regional groups, to provide networking
opportunities and community involvement for VRA members.
Ann Lindner and Nancy Mosher are working with a team of people from Lamoille and Washington Counties to jumpstart groups in those two regions. Guidelines for regional groups are being developed. We'd love to hear from any of you who would like to coordinate a group in your region or would like more information. Contact Nancy at 802-522-6424 or at nancycmosher@gmail.com. - Survey members, to get their input on the VRA;s
priorities and learn more about our members.
The survey is almost ready to go out by email to all of you, thanks to our Survey Monkey whiz Sylvia Gaboriault. Please take the few minutes it will take to fill out the survey and send it in. - Develop ethics procedures: ACTION NEEDED:
The attached policy has been developed and will be voted on by the board at our next meeting February 17. If you have feedback, let us know by February 10. ! We'd love to hear from you. Please send your feedback to info@vermontreikiassociation.org or call Sandy Jefferis at 802-343-2634. - Revise brochure:
Sandy Jefferis is working on revising the VRA brochure which is designed for Reiki providers and organizations that may be interested in using Reiki practitioners. We hope to have that available to you soon. Thank you, Sandy! - Website:
Chris Hanna has revised the practitioner page on the VRA website. Members are listed alphabetically, and it is possible to sort by county as well. Take a look! Hopefully it will help potential clients find you more easily. And many thanks to Chris. - The misleading "Founders" membership level has been changed to "Benefactor". Thanks, Chris!
HOLD THE DATE: The Weekend of Hope in Stowe will be held May 5, 2012.
We are looking at the possibility of following the Day of Hope with a gathering of VRA members at a local venue for hors d'ouevres and conversation. We'll keep you posted.
The VRA Board is currently operating without a President and Vice President, and with only three members. We are working on recruiting new board members, with a target of having a full leadership slate and a full complement of at least 5 members by our fall meeting. We are working hard on your behalf, and having fun doing it! Let us know if you would like to help! We're excited and inspired about building on the VRA's strong foundation and bringing new services and resources to our members, helping raise awareness about the benefits of Reiki throughout Vermont.

October 23, 2011 Business Meeting
15 members gathered at the Kellogg Hubbard Library in Montpelier on October 23, 2011. The business meeting was conducted, followed by a 2 hour visioning discussion to identify priorities for the VRA in the coming year. Members identified barriers, opportunities, and ideas for enhancing VRA’s ability to support its members in their Reiki practice, as well as to build awareness and support for Reiki in our Vermont communities.
The group rated all the ideas that were generated, and came up with five key priorities for the VRA to focus on in the next year. Members then had a chance to share a pot luck lunch, meet new members, and network with each other.
The five key areas are:
1. Support establishment of Regional Reiki Groups
2. Survey members, to get more input on vision.
3. All members get a copy of standards.
4. Establish Ethics Committee, to ensure consistent quality of practice.
5. Make Reiki research data more broadly available.
These initiatives are all now underway, with the leadership of the Board
of Directors.
